Chatham Rock Phosphate Limited's Australian subsidiary, Pacific Rare Earths, has been granted an exploration permit for selenium in Queensland, Australia.

The 19.6 sq km area is near the town of Hughenden and is only one of two hotspots for highly seleniferous soils in Australia.

Exploration will begin with soil sampling to identify drill sites, with potential applications in new technologies as well as fertilizers and supplements for livestock.
