The Commerce Commission has decided to issue a Statement of Issues regarding Viridian NZ Bidco's application to acquire 100% of Metro Performance Glass.
The commission has identified potential adverse competitive effects stemming from the loss of competition between Viridian and Metro in the glass processing, supply, and installation markets, where they are close competitors.
The Statement of Issues is not a final decision and does not indicate the commission's intention to either decline or clear the merger.
It will be published on the commission's case register in due course and will outline the potential competition issues.
The statement will also invite submissions from Viridian, Metro, and other interested parties.
