Engineering company Downer has been awarded a $320 million road maintenance contract by Victoria's Department of Transport and Planning.
The contract, which has a maximum term of eight years, will see Downer provide routine maintenance, planned maintenance, defect inspections, hazard rectification, and emergency response services for over 1,600 lane kilometres of road and 1,900 structures in metropolitan Melbourne's Western region.
It is an expanded version of the maintenance contract that Downer has held for the past six years.
The new contract will commence in July 2024 for an initial four-year term, with the option for two two-year extensions.
Downer's chief executive, Peter Tompkins, said the award reinforced the company's position as a leader in road maintenance across Australia and New Zealand.
