Meridian Energy’s April 2022 monthly operating report shows hydro storage decreased from 81% to 76% of historical average, with South Island storage remaining at 73% of average and North Island storage decreasing to 101% of average by 15 May.
April 2022 total inflows were 71% of historical average.
April was a warm and dry month for the country, with national electricity demand 2.3% lower than the same month last year, and Meridian’s New Zealand retail sales volumes 3.1% higher than April 2021.
