Meridian Energy has reported an increase in national hydro storage and higher retail sales volumes for June 2025.

In the month to July 14, national hydro storage rose to 104% of the historical average, with South Island storage at 95% of average and North Island storage at 150% of average.

Meridian's total inflows for June were 111% of the historical average, while the Waiau catchment inflows were 113% of the historical average.

The company's retail sales volumes in June were 7.9% higher than the same month last year, with increases in all segments except agriculture.

In the fourth quarter, total inflows were 102% of the historical average, and Meridian's Waitaki catchment water storage was 37% higher than the same period last year.

However, the company's generation was 8.8% lower at an 18.6% lower average price.

The national electricity demand in the fourth quarter was 2.6% lower than the previous year.
