Seeka has announced a 44% increase in the number of class 1 kiwifruit trays packed this harvest season.

A total of 43 million trays were packed, compared to 29.8m last year.

Seeka said the additional volume was efficiently processed and well within its capability, with the availability of labour and automation improvements contributing to a smooth packing season.

The company also stated that the impact of a Zespri shipment infested by rodents is not expected to materially impact earnings.

While the increased number of trays packed is a signal of a return to profitability, it noted that it is still too early to accurately predict the financial outcome and provide reliable financial guidance.

Seeka expressed its focus on maximising operational earnings, debt reduction, and achieving financial leverage targets.
