South Port New Zealand has successfully completed Project Kia Whakaū, which involved deepening the entrance channel from 8.7m to 9.7m chart datum.

The maximum operating draft is now 10.7m at high tide.

The company believes that this project will benefit its customers and the region and is in line with its goal of providing the best logistic solutions.

South Port will initially operate at an interim draft of 10.3m at high tide to assess the handling of deeper draft vessels before moving to the full 10.7m.

The achievement will be celebrated with an event at the Port.
