Auckland Airport welcomes Sarah Kearney into ‘Future Director’ Programme

Auckland Airport is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Kearney, as future director, from 19 October 2022 for 18 months.

Sarah Kearney is currently the Chief Digital Officer at The Warehouse Group. She has been with the group since 2017, working to accelerate e-commerce growth and deliver a quality experience for customers through innovation, transformation and data.

Prior to her role at The Warehouse Group she was based in Singapore as Senior Vice President of Growth and Optimisation for Lazada Group, the leading eCommerce platform and flagship platform of the Alibaba Group in Southeast Asia. Sarah is originally from the UK where she started her career in the retail industry.

Auckland Airport’s Chair Patrick Strange said: “We are delighted to welcome Sarah on board as a Future Director. With her extensive experience in ecommerce, Sarah she will bring valuable knowledge to Auckland Airport at time when we are working to transform the customer experience for the next 50 years of travel.”

The Future Director Programme identifies talented New Zealanders with proven potential to succeed in a governance role and provides them with an opportunity to observe and participate in Boardroom discussions. While the aspiring directors participate in real discussions, they do not have a role in Board decision making, and Auckland Airport has protocols in place that prevent future director participants being "deemed directors”.

Auckland Airport has been a strong supporter of the Future Directors programme since joining in 2013.
