Resignation of Metro Performance Glass CEO

Metro announces that Simon Mander has resigned his position as Group CEO and will be leaving the company on 10 May 2024. Current Director Simon Bennett has been appointed Executive Director, with the leadership team now reporting to him.

Shawn Beck the chair said “Simon Mander has led the company through an unprecedented time during the COVID pandemic, substantial structural changes in the NZ glass industry and now a significant contraction in the construction sector. We appreciate his contribution and wish him well for the future.”

Mr Mander said “I have really enjoyed my time over the last 5 years leading a passionate and dedicated team in New Zealand and Australia. I wish them every success in the future.”

Simon Bennett stated: “The new board and I look forward to working with the team, as we build our now, lower-cost business, with a revitalised strategy to provide an acceptable financial performance in the medium term.”

The Board has determined that Mr Bennett will be a non-independent director whilst he is the Executive Director role. The chair of the Board will oversee the performance of the Executive Director.
