The New Zealand First party has dropped its call for net immigration to be cut to no more than 10,000 a year, pledging instead to lead an election year debate about what the number should be.It will also campaign at this year's election to increase the qualification for permanent residence from two to five years and require migrants under a new rural visa scheme not to leave the area they arrived in before residency was granted.The economic nationalist coalition partner in the three-party Labour Party-led government went into the 2017 election...
