Christchurch authorities have offered New Zealand Rugby (NZR) about $1.1 million since 2017 in unsuccessful bids to attract an All Blacks game to the city. ChristchurchNZ, the city’s economic development agency, also offered NZR $750,000 in 2018 to host future women’s Rugby World Cup matches, taking the total to $1.9m. Despite fielding a team heavily drawn from the Crusaders – Christchurch’s uber-successful Super Rugby team – the All Blacks haven’t played an international test match in the city sinc...
