Electricity retailers are being asked by the sector regulator about planned price rises next year to prevent “consumer price shock”.The Electricity Authority is using its statutory powers to request detailed information from all retailers because of fears that power bill increases from next April could come as a nasty surprise to households.It is known that the average household bill will increase then by $10 a month after the Commerce Commission approved increased spending and revenue for Transpower, the national grid operator...
