Govt broadens access to screen subsidy

The government will halve the expenditure threshold for filmmakers to access the screen production grant, which will soon be renamed the screen production rebate. The post-production, digital and visual rebate is being returned to a flat 20% to make it more competitive, with qualifying expenditure cut to $250,000 from $500,000 to open it up to smaller productions. The extra 5% uplift rebate will be redeveloped to make the process simpler to navigate and more objective.All types of domestic screen productions will be able to access the...
