KiwiRail has selected a site north-east of Palmerston North for its new inter-modal freight hub.The location, between the city’s airport and Bunnythorpe, had always been a strong contender given its proximity to the city’s expanding north-east industrial zone.Regional Development Minister Shane Jones said the location made sense and will also link the 2.5 kilometre-long hub with roading projects planned by the NZ Transport Agency and local councils.The decision to relocate the existing rail hub from within the city was taken last ye...
