New coal boilers to be banned

A Labour-led government will legislate to ban the installation of new coal-fired boilers for all but the highest temperature applications, leader Jacinda Ardern said today.The policy is aimed at boilers used for low-to-medium temperatures applications – less than 300 degrees Celsius – which are increasingly able to be met with either biomass or electrical alternatives.
