The owners of New Zealand’s third-biggest waste player, Smart Environmental, have agreed to sell it to a yet-to-be-announced purchaser. The majority of owners, Maui Capital and Milford Private Equity, will sell 100% of the shares in Smart Environmental, with an announcement expected at the end of this month. Smart Environmental chair Simon Moutter would not be drawn on who the purchaser is, but described it as an “experienced waste operator.” He would not say if the deal required approval from the Overseas...
