Employer associations eager to see pro-rata sick leave

New Zealand’s employer associations are eagerly awaiting Government plans to amend employee sick leave entitlements. The updated approach, which featured in a Holidays Act amendment draft bill agreed to by the Cabinet in September, is to adjust entitlements so that sick leave is proportionate to how much employees work. Alan McDonald, head of advocacy, strategy and finance at the Employers and Manufacturers Association (EMA), told BusinessDesk he endorsed Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety Brooke van Velden’s effo...
