Health insurer to kick back $50m in premiums

Health insurer Southern Cross says it will give its members and business customers a $50 million discount on premium payments.The society, which runs a network of 19 private surgical hospitals, said it will apply a 4.5 percent discount to each policy’s premium “as soon as possible” in the wake of the  covid-19 pandemic.With around 871,000 members, this equates to around $57 per member.The society also has an estimated 4,000 business customers.Chief executive Nick Astwick said as the society was “essentially owned by its members “ its top p...
