MARKET CLOSE: NZ shares buoyed by Wall St records in 2020 open

New Zealand shares took their cue from a strong lead on Wall Street, as blue-chip stocks such as Auckland International Airport and Air New Zealand led the market higher. The S&P/NZX 50 Index increased 101.24 points, or 0.9 percent, to 11,593.14. Within the index, 27 stocks rose, 14 fell, and nine were unchanged. Turnover was $58 million in light trading, with no companies moving on volumes of more than a million shares.
