The New Zealand dollar strengthened during the day against the US dollar amid positive speculation about the US-China trade talks. The kiwi was trading at 63.21 US cents at 5:10 pm in Wellington from 63.14 cents at 8am. The trade-weighted index was at 70.36 points from 70.37.
