US payment technology firm Shift4 has agreed to acquire Smartpay in a $296.4 million deal.On Monday, SmartPay announced to the market it had been offered $1.20 per share in cash under a scheme of arrangement.The transaction, unanimously backed by Smartpay’s board, represented a 46.5% premium to Smartpay’s 90-day volume-weighted average price of $0.82.The company’s shares, which traded at $1.00 heading into the long weekend, traded at $1.06 when the NZX opened.Shift4 is a New York Stock Exchange-listed company with a...
