New Zealand red meat exports topped $1 billion for the second time in March 2021, with China taking the biggest slice. “The first time our monthly exports hit the billion-dollar mark was in March 2020 at the start of the global pandemic,” said Meat Industry Association chief executive Sirma Karapeeva.China was the major destination for NZ red meat in March, taking 45% of total exports worth $464 million.
