The New Zealand Rugby Players’ Association (NZRPA) and NZ Rugby are in mediation this week as they try to bridge the gap on how best to raise capital to fund cash-strapped provinces around the country.The national union expects to report an annual loss of more than $40 million in calendar 2020, chewing up its reserves, and adding pressure to the provincial unions that rely on that income.Those unions had to tighten their belts through the covid-19 pandemic by cutting costs to preserve their own cash reserves.
