The public service is to be carbon-neutral by 2025 under a programme announced today as part of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s climate emergency declaration.The scheme will require state bodies, including the police, fire service and the military, to develop plans on how they will reduce their emissions, report against those plans, and then offset any emissions they have not been able to cut by 2025.Some groups, including schools, universities and Kāinga Ora, have been included in the plan in principle, subject to further advice on the f...
