Economic Development Minister Phil Twyford has confirmed border exemptions for two yachting syndicates challenging Emirates Team NZ for the 36th America’s Cup. Delays to the entry of the two teams – American Magic and INEOS Team UK – were seen as a potential threat to a global event that could bring an estimated windfall of $100 million to the country over its four-month duration, culminating in the March 2021 Cup event in Auckland.
