Retirement Commission defends superannuation 'status quo' as sustainable

The retirement commissioner has released a report arguing the superannuation “status quo” is sustainable and changing the age of eligibility would be unfair for certain population groups.However, if the system later proved unsustainable the commission argued a fairer way to curb superannuation costs would be a means-test that excluded assets.  “Under this option, assets would not be considered as part of the test for eligibility,” Te Ara Ahunga Ora (the Retirement Commission) argued in its report released on Tuesday...
