Dairy co-op Fonterra says it's starting the new dairy season with a “cautious approach” lifting its opening forecast milk price slightly.This week, most dairy farmers without a winter milking contract will dry their herds off for the winter ahead of calving with the new dairy season, which officially starts on June 1.The co-op will start the new season with a forecast payout of between $7.25 and $8.75 per kilogram of milk solids (kgMS) with a midpoint of $8/kgMS.That is a 20c lift in its current midpoint of $7.80/kgMS, with...
