A West Coast mining group has secured a permit to mine minerals and rare earth elements (REEs) needed for green technology.Regulator New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals (NZPM) granted Aspiring Resources the permit to mine a 67-hectare site on farmland south of Cape Foulwind, near Westport, on Dec 17.The company is part of a group, Westland Mineral Sands, which collectively holds prospecting and exploration licenses covering about 8000ha on the West Coast.Through its logistics arm, West Coast Bulk Logistics, the group has leased space at Greymout...
