US cat food brand accuses NZ rival of trademark breach over use of 'meow'

The United States company behind a well-known cat food brand has launched legal action against a New Zealand competitor, alleging breach of trademark around the use of the word “meow”.The NZ Natural Pet Food Co, founded in 2016 in Auckland by Jacqueline Taylor and Amber Cordero, produces premium cat and dog food, including the “MEOW” line of freeze-dried products.The company uses the “FernMark” logo, a Government accreditation programme, to promote its NZ origins. According to a post on the NZ Story webs...
