Spark commits $24m to rural rollout for 5G spectrum access

Spark has gained long-term access to a portion of the 5G-enabling c-band spectrum, in exchange for committing $24 million to expand mobile coverage throughout rural New Zealand.The long-term rights agreement will start on July 1 next year.The government’s Radio Spectrum Management group announced that all short-term rights, which were set to expire at the end of this month, will be extended to June 1, 2023.Spark will have access to the range of spectrum between 80 megahertz and 3.5 gigahertz.Spark's chief executive, Jolie Hodson, said...
