Stewart Island is to receive up to $3.16 million to establish two wind turbines on the island to lower power costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Provincial Growth Fund has agreed the in-principle grant to allow Southland District Council to develop a project, including further wind monitoring and analysis, site selection and consenting.
