Your Android phone can now 'detect' earthquakes

Google claims Android phones in New Zealand may now be able to detect impending earthquakes nearby and alert its owners to the danger. The company said early warning alerts will be sent to compatible phones seconds before an earthquake strikes and are designed to urge people to get to safety.  Accelerometers found in most Android smartphones (for such functions as screen rotation) will be used to detect the seismic waves that indicate an earthquake.A Google spokesperson confirmed to BusinessDesk the feature will work on all Android de...
