Auckland Airport has reported a solid financial performance for the 2024 fiscal year, as international airlines made a strong comeback.
Total passenger numbers increased 17% to 18.5 million, driven by a 29% rise in international passenger numbers to 10.1 million.
Domestic passenger numbers also saw growth, up 5% to 8.5 million.
The airport's revenue soared by 43% to $895.5 million, while operating Ebitdafi (earnings before interest expense, taxation, depreciation, fair value adjustments and investments) rose 55% to $614m.
However, the company's reported profit after tax took a significant hit, plummeting 87% to $5.5m.
Auckland Airport will pay a final dividend of 6.5 cents per share on October 4 2024.
The company acknowledged that the full recovery of capacity to pre-2019 levels may take longer because of global aircraft orders and ongoing challenges in the aviation industry.
