The government has dashed universities' hopes of a temporary exemption for around 6,000 Chinese students who have been unable to start their studies in New Zealand because of the ban imposed on travel from China following the coronavirus outbreak.Universities New Zealand had lobbied hard in recent weeks and made extensive arrangements for the isolation of students if they were allowed to travel.But as the covid-19 virus spreads around the globe, now appearing in 40 countries, the option of a partial travel ban exemption faded fast this week.The...
