The government has agreed to increase Kāinga Ora’s borrowing capacity by $2.75 billion for the June 2023 year, with all future debt coming from the crown instead of privately.Finance minister Grant Robertson said in a statement that it made more sense for the public housing provider to borrow from New Zealand Debt Management (NZDM).This is in line with recommendations made by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in June.
