Allied Farmers has never been shy of taking a punt.Some eyebrows were raised when the Hawera company said it would take half of the management company running the latest addition to the NZX – NZ Rural Land Co.It’s not that it’s a bad fit, rather the deal was a bolt from the blue, despite Allied Farmers’ plans to reduce its reliance on a successful livestock operation which accounts for almost all its $20.8 million of annual revenue.Perhaps we were expecting a finance deal, given most of Allied’s focus in recent yea...
