One fallout from last month’s plasterboard shortage “scandal” is that it appears Fletcher Building is having to hold prices for political reasons.That’s at a time when plasterboard prices are rising in Australia, which has faced similar shortages to those in New Zealand.It seems obvious that Fletcher wouldn’t want to risk making headlines accusing it of profit gouging as it works to overcome the shortage, something chief executive Ross Taylor promised would be sorted by October.That’s especially so at a time...
