The New Zealand dollar and the local bourse were hit on Monday as trade tensions mount after the US tariff announcement. The NZ dollar was trading at 55.77 US cents at midday in Wellington, down from 56.38 US cents at 7am. BNZ senior markets strategist Jason Wong said the New Zealand dollar has mild support at 55.40 US cents but "really 0.55 is the key support level.
