New Zealand's main stock index and the kiwi dollar edged lower as investors began positioning themselves for the quiet summer period.The S&P/NZX 50 Index fell 17.53 points, or 0.1 percent, to 12,631.38. Within the index, 30 stocks rose, 15 fell and five were unchanged.
