The Commerce Commission will consider whether the closure of Sanford’s Auckland processing factory will crimp manufacturing as part of its wider look into the pros and cons of the seafood group’s proposed sale of inshore annual catch entitlement to Moana New Zealand. The antitrust regulator’s approval is needed to clear the deal, which will see Sanford sell its catch entitlement to Moana for 10 years, starting at $11 million a year and rising to $13m.
