A long-awaited deal to recapitalise Alliance Group appears to be nearing.Over the weekend, the Irish Times reported that Dawn Meats looked set to stump up with $270 million for a 70% stake in Alliance, which is currently the country’s only fully farmer-owned red meat co-operative.The family-owned meat company based in Waterford, according to its website, processes 3.5 million sheep annually and 1 million cattle supplied by 40,000 farmers.It has 10 sites in Ireland and 13 sites in the UK, with an annual turnover of €3 billion (NZ$5.8b...
