Synlait buys farmland for $25.7m

Synlait Milk has snapped up farmland next to its Dunsandel facility for $25.7 million, giving it greater control over water rights, cutting its reliance on truck deliveries and letting it to carry out on-farm research.The farmland forms a 582-hectare unit and “provides a unique opportunity to pursue on-farm sustainability initiatives and reduce our environmental footprint whilst creating further supply chain efficiencies in our business,” Synlait chief executive Leon Clement said.According to Synlait, the land would provide certainty over acces...
