Christchurch leaders want $50m from Michael Wood for transport projects

Greater Christchurch leaders are requesting $50 million from the government to accelerate planned public and active transport projects.The spend is less than half the $120m cost of a business case for the Let’s Get Wellington Moving programme, which is shared between Waka Kotahi Transport NZ and local councils.Christchurch mayor Lianne Dalziel and Environment Canterbury (ECan) chair Jenny Hughey sent the request to transport minister Michael Wood in a letter on July 7.It follows a meeting between Wood and local leaders earlier this year.I...
