The Government is set to consider whether to stop requiring the New Zealand Superannuation Fund to pay tax.Outlining the Government’s tax work programme, Revenue Minister Simon Watts is also signalling a review of the foreign investment fund (FIF) regime, which taxes unrealised gains on offshore investments and is routinely cited as a barrier to wealthy foreign migrants moving permanently to NZ.The announcement, however, carries no detail beyond the fact that “reviewing the FIF tax rules” is one of the priorities in tax reform...
