Plans to remove almost $6 billion of hybrid instruments from banks’ capital stacks has won support among the nation’s regulated lenders, albeit they are cautious about how the transition will play out.Reserve Bank of NZ (RBNZ) data showed $5.85b worth of Additional Tier 1 (AT1) capital on issue across four of the nation’s five biggest banks.
