The future of Kawerau's Norske Skog Tasman mill is in doubt after owner Norske Skog met with workers following a strategic review of the pulp and paper mill by its Norwegian parent.The plant is one of Bay of Plenty's largest industrial operations, employing about 170 workers and is capable of producing 150,000 tonnes of newsprint and pulp per year from radiata pine.Its potential closure follows news that the nearby Whakatane Mill will close on June 21, with the loss of 210 jobs for the region, already one of the most economically challe...
