MARKET OPEN: Fonterra earnings a focus; US markets weaker

Investors will be watching to assess the strength of Fonterra’s annual result today although a slide on Wall Street may curb investor enthusiasm. Fonterra is expected to swing back to an annual profit after reporting two straight years of losses and may resume paying a dividend. A positive result for Fonterra will spill over into other stocks with dairy exposure such as Synlait Milk and A2 Milk. However, a weaker night on Wall Street as tech companies lost more ground and investors were jittery about high levels of weekly jobless claim...
