The strength of Fonterra’s balance sheet has allowed it to invest significant money in upgrades to various processing sites, its chief operating officer says.In recent weeks, the dairy giant has announced three upgrades to sites around the country totalling $375 million.The latest this week was a new $150m coolstore at its Whareroa site, near Hawera in Taranaki.Fonterra is also pouring $150m into its Edendale site in Southland, its oldest, to build a new UHT cream plant as well as $75m for a new protein plant at Studholme, in South Canter...
