Farmers, businesses and environmental groups are raising concerns over the Government's proposal of a hundredfold increase in glyphosate residue limits for arable crops. The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is proposing to increase the maximum residue level (MRL) for glyphosate from the current default of 0.1mg per kg to 10mg per kg for wheat, barley and oats.  This would place NZ’s limit above Australia’s current MRL of 5mg per kg for wheat grain. Consultation on the proposal closed on May 16, with seve...
