Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) is levying a US$1,500 surcharge on trans-Tasman cargo headed to the port of Fuzhou due to ongoing covid related congestion at the eastern Chinese port.The surcharge, effective from today, follows last week’s announcement by the world’s second largest shipping line it had slapped a US$1,000 fee on Auckland bound containers from Australia, effective on bills of lading from July 8.MSC, Maersk and most shipping lines already levy congestion fees of between US$200 and US$300 per twenty-foot-equivalent unit...
